I play soprano, and alto saxophone I never have to buy music or search for hours in the Library for music.
I like to scribble my own notes on my music score.
Modify the music a little to my own taste.
The database of songs and music to download is quite incredible nearly all are free
Including Jazz Fake Books name any song and you can find the music in BB format.
BB music files are tiny and are usually in a zipped format.
This one program "Band in a Box by PG". Is valuable just for the database of songs.
I use Sibelius for editing notation.
From BB. You can save the music to a midi file and edit the score with your favourite music program.

Many people ask me how I get start with Band in a Box
Tom Willett has put together a very good tutorial on Youtube
