Title: Sibelius 6 Saxophone sounding in Concert C not transposing into Bb sound.
Post by: James on February 15, 2012, 04:55:30 PM
Sibelius 6 Saxophone sounding in Concert C not transposing into Bb sound.

I have imported a midi file from Band in a Box.

The notation is concert C piano, in the key of C. with just the treble clef.
Now if I try to convert the piano to tenor saxophone in Bb.
Firstly by selecting all the piano part to the end of score with ctrl, alt A.
Then selecting CREATE, OTHER, INSTRUMENT CHANGE, TENOR SAXOPHONE.
The notes sound like a saxophone but are still sounding at the same pitch as piano not the same pitch as a tenor saxophone. The note C on the sax should sound Bb on the piano.

I would like to play along on tenor sax reading the music in Sibelius and matching the same pitch on both the sax and the notation in Sibelius 6.

In Band in Box this is very easy.   After spending quite lot of time I can?t find a solution In Sibelius.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi James

If you transpose the music in Band in a Box 2012
Using the PREF in nav bar, Notation, Transpose option in the drop menu,
Soprano sax +2, Ato sax +9, Tenor sax +14, Baritone sax +21.
In the instrument drop menu select tenor 67 or Alto 66
Open your tune from the picking list.
In the window tab bar select notation/chords option.
To change the key press ctrl alt together and press 5 down or ctrl alt together and press 6 up.
Save your music to a midi file.
In Sibelius 6 load the midi file.
All the midi tracks will be shown in the navbar near the ?
In the FULLSCORE drop menu select the melody.
Now the notation is ready to play along the notes will match your saxophone.
