Post by: Tony Edge on April 09, 2011, 12:54:01 AM
End of term 2nd April 2011

I would like to say a very special thank you to two very special people who have helped me with learning the saxophone.
A friend Carol Jurriaans and my teacher Jennifer Palfreyman.

Carol spent an hour and a half teaching me the first elements of playing the saxophone.
Carol a brilliant soprano and alto saxophone player. Joined Macclesfield Music Centre almost at the very start, and studied the saxophone with Kryan Mathews.
Carol highly recommended joining MMC for lessons.
After 5 weeks of half hour lessons have improved my playing, even my long suffering family are saying you are getting better you don?t sound too bad.

Last Saturday Carol said would you like to come along to the Saturday music sessions ?I can introduce you to the players?
Carol wanted to say farewell to MMC before moving sometime soon to Holland to be near both her daughter and brother.
We all would like to wish Carol every happiness on her new venture.

What a fabulous morning with so many practice sessions the first was a group session at 9.00am ?Screaming Saxes? with Kyran Matthews.

The second band practice perhaps the most memorable Angie on piano leading the group with the first practice with parts of Close Every Door from Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
One of those moments very special captured with a small hand held digital compact camera captured the music and the atmosphere of Macclesfied Music Centre.

At 11-00 am it was time for my fifth lesson with Jennifer Palfreyman.
Jennifer is so patient. After all the excitement of the filming and making an attempt to play with the groups.   I felt a bit dazed and my confidence and playing the sax was well below normal.
Jennifer gave a lot of constructive help with two favorites Moonglow and Misty.
The little the mp3 recordings I have taken over the lessons will help considerably.
Unfortunately due commitments at Brixam, Perranpoth and the Jazz festival at Abersoch

I will have to postpone further tuition at MMC until later in the year.

Good luck
Tony
