I like to listen to Jazz FM but sometimes the music is not to my taste and can be a bit heavy.
For easy listening My solution is to listen online with my old Ipad 1or 2
https://radioau.net/satinjazz
Has some fabulous backing musicians and improvisation including saxophone.
From Austraila Broadcasting from Blue Mountains, Satin Jazz is an online radio station that dedicates its programming to the greatest female jazz vocalists, both the contemporary singer and the stars from the past.

To test the clarinet fingering
Select clarinetBb.ttf   and INSTALL

I have over 500 popular songs arranged for tenor saxophone that are easy to play with note heads so you don’t have to learn to read music.
If you have an Apple Ipad.  Sibelius Scorch Plugin costs Just £1.99 from Apple appstore
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/avid-scorch/id436394592?mt=8

For more information visit the developers website

https://www.avid.com/products/avid-scorch

The player is amazing you play along with score at any speed you can transpose to a different key and mute the backing tracks.
The standalone Avid Sibelius is very expensive but the Plugin uses part of the Sibelius engine. So the audio quality is superb and a bargain plugin at £1.99
You only have to get a friend or bandmaster that has Avid Sibelius and convert a midi file to a *.sib

I can send you some samples if you wish in PDF or *.sib.

There is another scorch program for a PC but is quite different although free
It is very basic and fussy about browsers.

Hello Yorkie

Thank you for visiting the forum.  What a wonderful wife buying a saxophone for your birthday.
Age is no barrier with learning saxophone it just needs lots of practice.
Don’t be discouraged if you can’t get the sound you would like. This will improve in no time.
My first tip would be to see if you get a few lessons for getting the basics.

YouTube is fantastic for tutorials on getting started and even advanced techniques.

I love the tenor saxophone. It’s so expressive and the sound is so dynamic and not that difficult to play the fingering looks strange at first but it’s quite easy.
As years go bye you will continue to improve.
With the help of computers being unable to read music is no hindrance.

I started playing saxophone aged over 65. After a few months I could play some carols for Christmas.

Keep us posted on how you are getting on.

What songs or music would you like to play?

Regards Tony

Hi I'm new to this forum. I was a pro trombonist for 50 years until my lip stopped responding the way I like in to. I've been on tenor sax for 6 months now and find I can control the sound OK despite the difficulties on trombone. As a matter of interest (I hope) I opted not to fold my lower lip over my teeth and I'm busy building up that lower lip, especially.

I compiled a 59 page set of scales and exercises for trombone which was very well received here and in the USA so I've rewritten this in treble clef and I'm offering to send a PDF free of charge to anyone who would give me an email address.

Anyway, that's it for now, cheers JM.

P.S. I'm ready to sit in with bands now in the West Midlands area.
